Short description

Each year, workers are entitled to a minimum of 35 hours of continuing training. Training can be provided by the employer, a certified training entity or training institution recognised by the relevant ministry offering training under the National Qualifications System. The employer covers the costs of workers' time spent in training and the costs of training provided at employer's initiative. Workers usually cover the costs of training (fees, transport, etc.) attended at their own initiative.

Operation/management

Employees are entitled each year to a minimum of 35 hours of training, or if hired on a fixed contract for a period equal to or greater than 3 months, a minimum number of hours in proportion to the duration of the contract for that year. The time dedicated to training provided under the worker-student statute is included, as well as time devoted to the recognition, validation and certification of competences.
The employer may provide those 35 hours of annual training up to 2 years in advance, or defer it, as long as the training plan so establishes, for an equal period of time. The employer needs to provide training in each year to at least 10% of the company’s employees.
