Torsten Dunkel is expert for the early identification of skill needs in the Area Research and Policy Analysis at Cedefop, the European Agency to promote the development of vocational education and training (VET) in the European Union based in Thessaloniki, Greece.
He is an economist by training. His research fields include the links between education/training and the labour market and economy, in particular the early identification of skill needs, the forecast of skill supply and demand, and the feasibility of employers’ surveys on skill needs at European level.
He also worked on the relations of HE, CVET and IVET, credit systems for education, competence development as well as mobility barriers and knowledge transfer between university and industry, the implications of the Bologna and Copenhagen processes for European education, and interchangeability between vocational and university education in Europe.
