SloanePeter Sloane is Emeritus Professor in Economics, Swansea University, Wales; Honorary Professorial Fellow, University of Melbourne, Australia and Research Fellow of the IZA, Bonn, Germany. He was recently Director of the Welsh Economy Labour Market Research and Evaluation Centre (WELMERC) Swansea University and prior to that Jaffrey Professor of Political Economy, Dean of Social Sciences and Law and Vice Principal, University of Aberdeen. Earlier posts include Professor of Economics and Management, University of Paisley/West of Scotland and Lecturer, University of Nottingham. He is a past member of the Economic and Social Research Council and Secretary of State for Scotland’s Panel of Economic Consultants. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh. He has published widely on various aspects of labour economics including discrimination, disability, low pay, job satisfaction, rates of return to education, and over- and under education, as well as on the economics of sport.
