Xavier Prats Monné is Director for employment policy, Lisbon strategy and international relations at the European Commission (Directorate-General Employment, Social Affairs and Equality of Opportunities). He is also a member of the Commission's Impact Assessment Board. His main recent policy briefs are the EU common principles of flexicurity, the European Globalisation Adjustment Fund, and the EU ‘New Skills for New Jobs’ initiative on skills upgrading and labour market forecasting. He previously served as Director for the European Social Fund, and in the Cabinets of the Commission Vice President for external relations and of the Commissioner for Cohesion policy. Xavier Prats Monné completed his primary and secondary education at the Istituto Massimo in Rome (Italy). He holds degrees in social anthropology from the University of Madrid, in development economics from the Centre International des Hautes Etudes Agronomiques Méditérannéennes, and in European affairs from the College of Europe in Bruges, where he graduated first of the Class of 1981-82 and served as assistant professor. |
