As part of the European Youth Guarantee, Erasmus +, the European Union’s programme for education, training and lifelong learning, recently earmarked financial support for apprenticeship schemes. This includes the formation of apprenticeship alliances involving two or more countries or social partner organisations.
The present conference is intended to help potential partners find each other.
The event will showcase examples of actions, programmes and approaches related to apprenticeship which could be adapted in other Erasmus + countries .
Countries and social partners who wish to offer good practices are termed supporters; those interested in learning from the experience of other countries are termed enquirers. In some cases, countries have expressed an interest in being both supporters and enquirers.
For this reason the event does not follow the usual conference format. Instead, interaction, cross-country dialogue and experience-sharing will dominate, all focused on allowing participants to identify potential partners for apprenticeship modernisation.
The conference addresses government officials responsible for apprenticeships in initial vocational education and training, and social partners – employers and employees – who are involved in apprenticeships and are willing to cooperate with others in modernising apprenticeship schemes.
Participants will also learn more about financial support available under Erasmus +, for which the deadline is 26 June.
Over a day and a half, participants will be able to :
- Share the results of their own country’s apprenticeship policies and schemes ; reflect on whether the practices presented could be of benefit to their country;
- Discuss success factors and challenges in developing quality apprenticeships;
- Find partners for future cooperation projects, which could be financially supported by the European Commission - DG Education and Culture (Erasmus +)
Cedefop’s role will be to steer discussions and provide as many opportunities as possible for potential partners to interact.
