Gillian Hilton has worked in education all her life, originally as a teacher in secondary schools then as a teacher trainer in university. She has a Master’s Degree in Gender and Education and a PhD in Sex Education and the needs of boys. She recently moved on from Head of Education at Middlesex University, running a large department with over 1000 students involved in vocational and academic courses, to working there part time and undertaking work for government organisations and in Europe. Since 2003, she has been working in the Baltic States leading international teams helping them improve their teacher education courses. In addition, she tutors PhD students for Middlesex and universities abroad and is involved in ongoing research with a group of European teacher educators and is a member of Association of Teacher Educators in Europe.
