Mario Cardona has worked in primary and secondary education as a teacher and administrator. He was also involved in parent education and in employee training in industry. He has specialised in adult and community education at the University of Malta and the Universita' Roma Tre. He is currently doing a PhD in Adult education at the University of Edinburgh, carrying out research about learning in rural co-operatives. Mario Cardona has been working at the Ministry for Education and Employment for the last four years, first as an education officer responsible for adult education classes run by the Directorate for Lifelong Learning, and presently as a Director for Early School Leavers tasked with implementing Malta's Strategic Plan for the Prevention of Early School Leaving.
