Catalin Ghinararu is a graduate of economics from the Academy of Economic Studies in Bucharest. He holds a Ph.D. in the same field and from the same alma mater since 1997. Starting with 1992 he is studying labour market and social protection systems at the National Labour Research Institute of Romania; since 2001 he is the holder of the office of Scientific Secretary. Ghinararu has been involved in the preparation of major documents relating to labour market reform in Romania and coordinated for six years the public pension recalculation process in Romania. Since 2003 he is working with the European Commission-DG Empl while also working extensively with the CEDEFOP Centre, Eurofound, the ILO and UNDP. He wrote for the UNDP, the ILO, the European Commission and the OCED. Currently Ghinararu is also teaching with the University of Bucharest, Faculty of Business and Administration, his subjects being public pensions and demography.
