Mr Peter Noonan is the Director of his own education and training research and consulting firm, Peter Noonan Consulting and is an Associate of the Faculty of Education at Monash University and an Honorary Fellow Faculty of Education at The University of Melbourne.
He established the practice in 2001 after 20 years of experience in senior levels of government at state and national levels. Over that period he has played a major role in shaping policy directions in VET, Higher and Post Compulsory Education in Australia.
Mr Noonan played an instrumental role in the establishment of, and was a General Manager of the Australian National Training Authority and has also held senior management roles in the Victorian and Queensland VET systems.
Mr Noonan’s major areas of expertise and interest are in the development of long term education and training policy with a particular focus on Commonwealth\State relations. He has also undertaken major projects in areas such as emerging requirements for skills and qualifications, the implications of demographic change for education and training, regulatory reform, improving intersectoral relationships and analysis of national and state funding for education. He also works with individual universities, higher education providers and TAFE Institutes on strategy and organisational and profile reviews. Mr Noonan has also advised major industry associations and companies on issues related to education and training. He also has extensive experience in and knowledge of international education and training systems. He was recently appointed to the expert panel undertaking a major review of the Higher Education System in Australia.
Mr Noonan holds degrees in Arts and Education from the University of Western Australia and was awarded a Fulbright Fellowship to the United States in 1993. |
