Romania: EQAVET implementation through Erasmus+

The National Centre for Technical, Vocational Education and Training Development has responsibility for the Erasmus+ project European quality assurance in vocational education and training - national reference points (QANRPs), running from April 2017 to March 2019.

The project’s specific objectives are:

  • further development of the EQAVET framework at system level, in the national context;
  • strengthening cooperation with other QANRPs;
  • supporting the development of the quality culture at all levels.

As its first specific objective, the project will support the development of the EQAVET framework in the national context by research into the quality of IVET provision in Romania at system level. The aim is to benchmark the quality level of IVET provision against EQAVET requirements. The main conclusions of the research will provide an evidence-based-insight into the quality of IVET provision, enabling sound policy decisions on future improvement plans.

The second specific objective is organising study visits between four QANRPs from Romania, Italy, Finland and Greece. Each QANRP will organise a visit for the colleagues from the other three to discussed topics of common interest:

  • quality assurance of work-based-learning;
  • peer-review of VET providers;
  • collection and use of information on VET graduate satisfaction;
  • use of VET graduate tracking information at VET provider and system level to improve VET provision and VET qualifications (feed-back).

The third objective is to create a compendium of examples of good practice in promoting VET benefits to different stakeholders, at system and provider level, and examples of VET providers’ good practice in quality assurance of initial VET. The first part of the compendium, Success stories, was already produced in a previous EQAVET QANRP project and was positively received both by the main national VET stakeholders (students, companies, teachers, and parents) as well as by members of the QANRPs in other EU countries.

The development of the quality culture at all levels will be strengthened by creating and publishing a set of promotional materials, by the continuous updating and enrichment of the GNAC website, and by the organisation of two national information sessions for a wide range of stakeholders.

These actions will foster sustainable cooperation among decision makers and with stakeholders at regional, national and European levels.
