Social inclusion: a European approach toward the education of disabled students

This conference is part of the European Initiative on the rights of disabled children, established by the Lisbon Declaration of 17 September 2007.

 Bringing together 300 European experts, it will enable the identification of best practices, through a comparison of dispositions being applied throughout the European Union, to improve the education of disabled students in Europe.

It should enhance conclusions of the Council, that will in turn prepare the French presidency on the subject of School in the 21st-Century, as a follow-up of the communication from the European Commission on the modernization of school education in Europe. A debate on the themes of the conference will be proposed during the Council of Ministers in November 2008.
