Aviana Bulgarelli appointed new Director of Cedefop

Cedefop announces the appointment of Aviana Maria Bulgarelli as new Director of Cedefop.

Aviana Bulgarelli studied philosophy and holds a postgraduate degree in labour policy and economics. She served as Research Director responsible for Employment Policy Analysis and Evaluation at ISFOL, the central Italian vocational training institute, in Rome. As a national expert at the European Commission she worked on the European Social Fund, the Force and Tacis programmes and on the methodology of programme evaluation. She has also contributed to the ILOs social and vocational education policy for Eastern Europe and Central Asia, and has served on Cedefops Management Board. Aviana Bulgarelli is currently Director General for Vocational Training and Guidance at the Italian Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs.

Ms Bulgarelli will be succeeding Mr Johan van Rens, who leaves Cedefop after an 11-year term of office, on 1 October 2005.
