The Cedefop conference (27-28 November) addressed how the common tools together can help to achieve the main objectives of European cooperation in vocational education and training: easier mobility and career progression for learners, better education and training for all of Europe.
James Calleja, along with the directors of ETF, Eurofound and EU-OSHA, presented the work of their respective EU agencies to the European Parliament Committee on Employment and Social Affairs (EMPL) on 4 November in Brussels, with a particular focus on informing new committee members.
Data on early school leaving and rates of young people not in employment education or training illustrate the difficulties young people face in today’s world, as well as the economic and social consequences of their being cut off from the labour market and education. They also underline the importance of keeping young people in education and training.
