The workshop held this week in Cedefop, Testing the European Qualifications Framework, proved to be particularly fruitful. Project promoters and stakeholders reported on the challenges that the EQF must overcome by 2010 to become a useful “translation tool” between various kinds of qualifications.
They also sought the support of Cedefop in creating a common language that will be used to describe qualifications, and in applying the learning outcomes approach in real life: in systemic and policy changes, but also in curricula and standards. The aim is to move toward a more learner-centred education and training environment.

Cedefops Qualifications Team is currently working on several comparative studies that will shed more light on how the learning outcomes approach and the EQF will help European citizens make the most of their skills, knowledge and competence.
