The Cedefop expert workshop on the relationships between Credit systems and Qualifications Frameworks will take place in Thessaloniki, Greece, on 21-22 January 2010.

The event will be based on the Cedefop forthcoming publication on the relationships between credit systems and qualifications frameworks in vocational education and training, and higher education. The study takes into account the European tools (ECTS, ECVET, EQF and the EHEA-QF) and their implementations. It focuses on the implications of the relationships for qualifications design and award, for the progression routes for learners and for learning pathways. The different identified patterns of interaction and integration are considered in national education and training contexts and at European level.

This workshop is embedded in a larger reflection on permeability in Education and Training carried out at Cedefop, it aims at taking this further and at generating new understanding on the dynamics of the tools and of their implementations at national and European level. Finally, the event aims at stimulating future action on permeability and at identifying key messages for the further development of the European tools.

The expert workshop is gathering around 40 European and national VET and HE policy- and decision makers, experts and practitioners engaged in projects, policy-making and/or research in the field of qualifications frameworks, credit systems, learning outcomes and qualifications.
