Purpose of the toolkit
The aim of the tools created within the SOS-mobilities project is to help staff members (teachers, support workers, social workers etc.) within VET, to include students who are at a disadvantage academically, have low self-esteem and/or lack motivation in international mobilities.

Description of each of the tools
The project considers mobility as a positive factor for students at a disadvantage and thus this tool is intended to motivate teachers and staff to include them in such projects. The tool itself is a booklet and it starts by explaining why it is important to include disadvantaged students in international mobility projects. It weighs the pros and cons and explains the time and resource that will probably be needed.
The next part of the booklet explains ‘motivation’ and the theory behind it. One theory that is embraced by the booklet is the ‘hierarchy of needs’ according to which there is a link between developing awareness of one’s skills and being motivated. This applies to staff and students alike. The booklet provides a series of activities through which students can discover their skills.
The final part of the booklet is an introduction to coaching explaining its benefits and providing some tips on how to start.
The annexes of the booklet include a framework in the languages of the various partners on how to include students with fewer opportunities in international mobilities. This provides a structure for the steps to be taken before, during and after the mobility and is intended to help organise the mobility. The framework itself shows who/which entity is to do what and at what stage of the mobility.
The annexes also provide a checklist (translated into the languages of the partners) for both sending and hosting countries. The checklist is intended as a facilitator and, similarly to the framework, it includes information regarding who is to do what, when they are to do it and why. It goes into more detail than the framework.
