The seminar will focus on the local and regional dimension of the combat against poverty and social exclusion. It will address issues such as homelessness, the gender and age dimensions of poverty, or the social inclusion of immigrants and ethnic minorities.
Cedefop will participate in Session II: How can the EU help local and regional authorities? What legacy for the European Year 2010?
This session will look at the role of the EU in combating poverty and social exclusion: is the open method of coordination enough or should it go further in the context of the EU2020 strategy? What about the subsidiarity principle in the social policy area? What will be the legacy / lasting effects of the European Year after 2010?
