The report entitled 'Evaluating active ageing policies in Italy: an innovative methodological framework' is the outcome of a project financed by the European Commission, DG Employment, Social Affairs and Equal Opportunities.

The project (December 2008-December 2009) was promoted by Fondazione Giacomo Brodolini with Agenzia Liguria Lavoro, Agenzia Campania per il Lavoro and Regione Marche as partners.

The aim was to define and experiment a purpose-made methodology and set of indicators for integrated evaluation of the active ageing policies implemented in Italy in the light of the objectives set by the European Employment Strategy (EES).
In fact, the EES includes, among its priorities, increasing the rates of participation of older workforce, and thus implementing actions for prolonging working life, but also preventing and curbing those processes of social exclusion that may be associated with age.

In particular, the project pursued the following objectives:

• promoting an integrated approach for the monitoring and implementation of active ageing policies
• formulating a methodological structure for integrated evaluation of all the active ageing strategies deployed in the various areas and their contribution to the overall objective
• applying this model to the territory of the three Regions
• communicating the results to the various parties involved.
