Cedefop presented new evidence on the demand for artificial intelligence (AI) skills, as revealed in the job vacancies of EU employers, and its research on automation risk and the responsiveness of vocational education and training (VET) systems to the future of work challenges, at an international conference on AI and education in Beijing on 16 to 18 May.
An expert working group tasked with the preparation of Cedefop’s 2nd European skills and jobs survey (ESJS) met for the first time on 15 February in Brussels.
Cedefop’s policy learning forum on skills anticipation gathered over 60 national stakeholders from countries participating in the agency’s country support programme and other experts in Thessaloniki on 14 and 15 June.
Cedefop Director James Calleja warned that talent and speed of change are challenging both businesses and vocational education and training (VET) at a meeting on bridging the skills gap organised by the Employers’ Group of the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC), the Bulgarian EU Presidency and the Association of Bulgarian Employers, in Sofia on 22 March.
A new publication analyses Cedefop’s European skills and jobs (ESJ) survey, a data set covering about 49 000 EU-28 adult employees.
Cedefop expert Alena Zukersteinova represented the agency at the European Industry Day event in Brussels on 22-23 February. In the session on the role of skills in future employment, she presented some of the key facts and figures coming from Cedefop research and analysis on skills.
Ideas and plans that will support Cedefop's policy work on vocational training for the long-term unemployed were devised, presented and discussed at a two-day policy learning forum on 15 and 16 June in Thessaloniki.
There will be no ready-made human capital in the future due to the constant labour market transformation, but self-made skills are possible, said Cedefop Director James Calleja at the European Training Foundation (ETF) high-level conference on changing skills for a changing world (Turin, 7-8 June).
