Organisers of Study Visits planned for the academic year 2010-11 gather in Thessaloniki on 24-25 June to discuss how to best cover social inclusion issues. The topic is the focus of about a third of the all study visits in that period.
The knowledge-sharing seminar, the third of its kind, is where study visit organisers learn about recent developments in education and training in Europe, share experiences with their peers, and receive guidance on how to best organise the content and logistics of their study visit. The three thematic workshops examine policies and practices that actively promote social inclusion:
  • Equal opportunities for disadvantaged students, with a focus on early childhood education, school dropout and inclusion of special-needs students in mainstream schools;
  • Education for active citizenship, and the social integration of migrants and minorities;
  • Labour market integration for young people and adults who are particularly at risk of social exclusion.
