The seminar will look at the need to recognise learning and qualifications across the EU and for companies to invest in lifelong learning schemes for employees. The aim is to boost occupational workforce mobility within and across enterprises, sectors, and countries. During the opening session, data will be presented from the Eurobarometer Survey (2005) that was conducted by European Foundation for Improvement of Living and Working conditions (Eurofound) in response to a request from the European Commission. In addition, Cedefop will present the progress achieved in developing the European Qualifications Framework (EQF). On the second day, four case studies of company mobility policies supported by training strategies will be discussed. The companies involved are Telefonica (Spain), EDF Group (France), The Bank of Cyprus, and Syros Shipbuilding & Industrial Enterprises (Greece).
The discussions will lead to conclusions and results which will be published and submitted to European Commission as a contribution to the European Year of Worker Mobility 2006.
