The challenge of ensuring that citizens and employees are equipped with the skills and competencies needed to live and work in the 21st century has never been more urgent. Demographic trends, global competition and technological advances make it even more imperative to raise the level of skills and ensure that these are maintained in line with rapid evolutions.
This aim of this conference is to bring together representatives of education, training, industry, government and trade unions in order to identify and share innovative and productive policy and practice in the domain of development of key competencies. Its aim also is to forge international links and produce action plans for ongoing collaboration and development. While recognising the realities of competition, we wish to encourage coopetition, building strong partnerships in order to raise skills levels, increase productivity and promote social inclusion.
