Study on monitoring sectoral employment

The study presents a comprehensive collection and a long-term analysis of key sectoral data with a view to identifying and monitoring sectoral employment developments and interdependencies.

The impact of the crisis is analysed for a representative set of sectors and Member States, paying special attention to flexicurity, skills, outsourcing and restructuring, labour productivity, technological change, etc.

The main objectives of the study are:

to provide an overview of historical changes in sectoral employment,
to analyse in depth recent developments in sectoral employment,
to present an assessment of the direct and indirect impacts of the crisis and the measures implemented to mitigate its social effects on employment in selected sectors across MS,
to highlight future employment challenges, acknowledging sectoral differentiation.
