A first validation workshop of the thematic country review on apprenticeship in Slovenia takes place in Ljubljana on 20 October 2015. The members of the Steering group will discuss and validate findings of the background report prepared by Cedefop (with the support of a contractor). The report compiles factual information on vocational and technical education programmes that are closest to the apprenticeship type in Slovenia. The report aims at setting a common ground to start dialogue with the national stakeholders.

The participants will also discuss results of preliminary analysis of the national situation that looks at the existing situation with a view to identify enablers and challenges, favourable and unfavourable conditions that can support or hinder the possible (re-)introduction of apprenticeship in Slovenia.

Cedefop experts, Irina Jemeljanova and Slava Pevec Grm, will take part and lead the discussions.

Cedefop conducts thematic country reviews on apprenticeships in selected volunteer countries and looks at national developments on apprenticeships, while considering contextual factors. It started in 2014 as a pilot for two countries who had expressed interest, Malta and Lithuania, and has been extended to other interested countries (for 2015-16 it is Italy, Greece and Slovenia). The Slovenia review was launched at an event hosted by the Ministry of Education, Science and Sport in Ljubljana on 16 June.

This meeting is co-organised by Cedefop and the Ministry of Education, Science and Sport of Slovenia.
