Skills-OVATE: Skills Online Vacancy Analysis Tool for Europe

Skills-OVATE allows you to display information at national land aggregate level. The system contains UK data and analysis based on research conducted before the United Kingdom’s exit from the European Union on 31 January 2020. The default aggregate refers to the EU Member States (EU27_2020). While it is possible to display aggregates including the UK (EU27_2020+UK) to reflect the situation in the European Union before 31 January 2020, these should not be considered as representative of the situation in the EU thereafter.

The online job advertisements were gathered between 1 July 2018 and 30 September 2020. Data presented are based on a robust methodology using big data and machine learning techniques. The underlying online job advertisement data are already of high quality, but they need more work to clean and classify them. More analysis and testing are also necessary for Skills-OVATE to provide sound evidence to inform policy making. Please use the findings as indicative. Skills-OVATE’s aims at this stage to show the data’s potential and provide information to help interpret labour market developments.

ESCO includes many skills that may be overlap with others and some listed skill requirements may seem similar. The ESCO team intensively works on skills classification improvements which the Skills-OVATE team will implement as soon as possible.

From the drop-down lists you can select up to five skills. The stars on bottom left signal the extent to which the selected skills are present in occupations. The right chart displays for the share of online job advertisements for occupations in which one or more of the selected skills are relevant.
