Companies involved in dual VET are entitled to a new financial benefit, the so-called direct payments, valid since the 2018/19 school year.
Sponsored by public employment services and the ESF, two new tools ‘odborogram’ and ‘profesiometer’ focusing on human resource planning and career guidance and counselling were developed.
At a meeting organised by Cedefop in collaboration with the Slovak Ministry of Education, Research, Science and Sport, in Bratislava, on 4 April, policy-makers and stakeholders discussed the way forward for skills governance in Slovakia.
Important events took place during the last week of November 2018 on the occasion of the 18th Lifelong learning week, organised by the Association of Adult Education Institutions (AIVD). International experts were also attracted by the fifth international conference of the Programme for the international assessment of adult competencies (PIAAC), held in Bratislava from 27 to 29 November, after the meeting of the board of participating countries in PIAAC.
Since 2017, and on their request, Cedefop has been working intensively with national authorities and stakeholders in Greece, Estonia, Bulgaria and Slovakia, to support them in strengthening their skills anticipation and matching capacities.
Following the publishing of the Learning Slovakia document, approved in 2017, the education ministry prepared the National programme for the development of education (NPDE), a 54-page document including 106 policy measures.
At the beginning of the school year 2017/18, there were 2 611 learners in dual VET, of whom 1 252 were in the first grade (3% of learners entering upper secondary education), 953 in the second, and 406 in the third. Based on these figures, raising the attractiveness of dual VET may prove challenging.
Cedefop’s policy learning forum on skills anticipation gathered over 60 national stakeholders from countries participating in the agency’s country support programme and other experts in Thessaloniki on 14 and 15 June.
