May 11th saw the official launch of the Academy for Young Trainers in Skopje. Through the EU-supported training programme, 12 young trainers will be trained by EU experts and prepared to join the local trainer and consultant community.

The goal is to increase the quantity and quality of practitioners working in the country in the field of management development and training, which will contribute to economic growth and the competitiveness of local companies. This is part of an EU-funded project, managed by the European Agency for Reconstruction and implemented by an international consortium led by ECORYS B.V. of the Netherlands, to provide technical assistance to the Human Resource Development Fund (HRDF).

This is the third phase of EU assistance to the HRDF, which was launched on 3 January and will run until December 2008. In addition to the Young Academy programme, the EAR managed project also provides management training to managers of 40 local small and medium-sized enterprises in six learning groups.
