Too old for the job think again, Europe needs you!

Europes population is ageing thanks mainly to increased life expectancy, low fertility rates and the post-war baby boom.

This could cause problems for Europes economic competitiveness and put pressure on pension funds and social protection systems. One solution is to ensure that older people those aged between 55 and 64 are able to find work and stay in the jobs market for longer.

However, according to recent Eurostat figures, the over 55s find it more difficult than most to find employment. In 2007, the employment rate for older EU citizens was 44.7%, compared to 65.4% for all working age people. [extract]
