Two flagship initiatives for the modernisation of education address vocational and general education components of VET.
The winning teams of the #CedefopPhotoAward 2019 competition come from Austria, Croatia and Romania.
In July 2018, 25 VET schools were chosen among 42 applicants to become the first centres of competence in Croatia.
Cedefop organises the second policy learning forum on apprenticeships, a European vocational skills week event, on 18 and 19 October in Thessaloniki.

The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) listed the Croatian e-Schools project among the top 12 introducing ICT in education in the world in 2017, in a competition among 143 projects from 79 countries. The UNESCO annual award is conferred on individuals and organisations that promote innovative use of new technologies in expanding access to high quality education and lifelong learning.
The Agency for VET and Adult Education has presented the results of the Survey on adult education in 2017 and the Strategic framework for promotion of lifelong learning 2017-21, developed within the ESF project Promotion of Lifelong Learning.
Croatia presented its ambitious PROMikro project which will use microcomputers to introduce digital literacy elements into various elementary school classes and extracurricular activities.
Croatia has a lot of experience of the impact of immigration. Two decades ago the country experienced a huge inflow of the immigrants from neighbouring countries (over a half of a million) affected by the war. Now, immigrant numbers are much lower and these are mostly refugees from non-EU countries.
Prototype improvement, ideas for cooperation and suggestions for future actions were the main points of the European big data hackathon (#euBDhack) follow up, jointly organised by Cedefop and Eurostat, in Thessaloniki on 18 and 19 September.
