Cedefop/Skillsnet is organising its second expert workshop on European skill needs forecasting.
A continuation of the feasibility workshop held in Cyprus in 2005, the workshop will take the form of a brainstorming session among experts in econometric forecasting and educational fields.

The information deficit about future skills needs in Europe has been recognised for some time. While a truly European labour market is now a reality on the EU policy agenda, we do not have a clear picture of what occupations and skills will be in demand in this labour market. Finding better ways to obtain information on future needs, including joint European action, has become a priority.

The workshop will, among other things, report on various developments toward producing a pan-European forecasting model, compare the sets of consistent information provided by Member States, identify data gaps and agree on further steps toward the development of a system for skills need forecasting in Europe.
