Over the past decade, the European automotive industry has gone through profound changes due to the challenge from global competitors. As confirmed in the CARS 21 report, its future competitiveness will depend largely on the capability to put forward innovative products and high quality, technically-advanced solutions, whilst also being at the cutting edge of marketing and distribution. Only a well-trained, skilled and motivated workforce can make this a reality. But the imbalance between the supply and demand in the educational system in many countries across Europe is contributing to a mismatch in the labour market which is also felt by the automotive industry. Based on the White Paper produced by the Automotive Component Suppliers Association CLEPA, the Forum will look into ways how all stakeholders (including the industry itself, national governments, social partners and the European Institutions) can meet the challenge to sustain jobs and incomes for millions of Europeans in the future.
