The report is a contribution to discussions on the future shape of the EU's Growth and Jobs Strategy and looks at the way economic, employment and social policies interact. It has been prepared by the EU Social Protection Committee (SPC), which brings together experts representing each Member State together with the European Commission.

The report investigates the extent to which past economic and employment growth have contributed to greater social cohesion, as well as the extent to which the modernisation of social protection systems has supported this growth.
