Cedefop invites leading experts to submit papers for a reference publication on monitoring and evaluation of lifelong guidance systems and services for adults, in a lifelong learning perspective, by 18 January 2021.
To improve the effectiveness of national guidance services, the law on vocational training, employment and social democracy assigned a leading role to the Regions. Since 2015, the public service of lifelong guidance has been provided jointly by the State (policy setting and implementation in public education) and the Regions (local implementation mostly in continuing training). The aim is to guarantee universal access to free, complete and objective information on jobs, training, qualifications, career opportunities and pay levels.
Cedefop invited experts from its CareersNet network to provide an initial assessment of how the coronavirus health emergency has affected the delivery of career and lifelong guidance in their country or region. Responses suggest a seismic shift towards online learning and guidance delivery.
The European inventory of lifelong guidance systems and practices is now online. The inventory is the most complete source of information on career guidance systems in Europe.
Cedefop, together with the European Commission, ETF, OECD, ILO and UNESCO have released a shared vision of the strategic role of career guidance in enabling learning and labour market integration.
On 1 September 2018, a new regulation on vocational guidance and counselling in Polish schools entered into force. Vocational guidance and counselling will be carried out in a systematic way in all types of school with the exception of art schools.
Brussels’ first counselling and guidance centre Cité des métiers was opened on 23 April 2018, in the presence of the European Employment Commissioner, Marianne Thyssen, and several ministers from the Brussels Region. Based on a multi-partner and bilingual initiative, this one-stop shop for life-long guidance and counselling is designed to improve access to all types of life-long learning, including vocational education and training (VET).
