Between 9 and 12 December 2010, Lisbon hosted the EuroSkills 2010 – the European Occupations Championship, which confirmed the potential of European vocational training.

More than 500 young people from 27 European countries participated in the competition and 62 000 persons visited the fair.

Portugal achieved the highest score in the EuroSkills, with a total of 32 medals won, 11 of which were gold. Portugal was followed by Austria, Finland, the Netherlands and Belgium.

Nine activities were rewarded individually with a gold medal: hairdresser, traditional machines technician, fashion designer, dressmaker, Cisco expert, refrigeration technician, web designer, welder and personal services technician. In addition, Portugal received two more gold medals for team work, in the area of Information and Communication Technology and Engineering and Manufacturing Technology.
