A recent Council resolution singles out work done in Cedefops network Skillsnet as a major contribution to providing responses to practical questions in education and training.
In discussing the European strategy to promote jobs and growth, Council resolution of 15 November 2007 draws attention to the practical steps that need to be taken in education and training in order to provide citizens with better opportunities to succeed on the labour market. These cover three areas: equipping people with the skills necessary for new jobs; work on transparency and validation, and on the identification of training needs; and the need for a better anticipation of skills needs and gaps on the labour market. The resolution specifically invites the Commission to strengthen the European network for early identification and forecast of skills needs (Cedefops Skillsnet).
