The provision of long-term employment forecasts in sectors of economic activity and occupations is an established activity of the Human Resource Development Authority of Cyprus (HRDA).

The Research and Planning Directorate of the HRDA provides 10-year employment forecasts on a regular basis every 2 to 3 years. The HRDA recently published three research studies providing employment forecasts for Cyprus for the period 2010-2020 which incorporate the effects of the current economic crisis. They are the latest of a series of research studies providing analyses for the labour market in Cyprus. The three studies (in Greek) are:

  • “Employment Forecasts in the Cyprus Economy 2010-2020”, which deals with 46 sectors of economic activity and 27 occupational groups covering the whole spectrum of the Cyprus labour market;
  • “Forecasts of Employment Needs in High Level Occupations in Cyprus 2010-2020”, forecasting employment, expansion and replacement demand for 104 high level (university or post-secondary) occupations for the period 2010-2020; and
  •  “Forecasts of Employment Needs in Middle Level Occupations in Cyprus 2010-2020”, forecasting employment, expansion and replacement demand for 90 middle level occupations (such as clerks, service, sales and craft workers) for the period 2010-2020.
