Conference on Employment in Europe- Perspectives and Priorities

In the second half of 2007, 10 years will have gone by since the launch of the European Employment Strategy at the Luxembourg summit. Economies, labour markets and social policies are undergoing profound changes and the multiple challenges of employment are at the heart of debates on competitiveness and social protection. At the same time, employment remains one of the main concerns of citizens everywhere.

The 10th anniversary of the European Employment Strategy is a unique opportunity to reflect on the way policies and instruments have evolved, and this should be a discussion oriented towards the future. The conference will be an occasion to deepen on-going debates, focusing on the prospective and strategic dimension of employment policies. Analysis will cover issues as the major trends of recent years, areas with new opportunities for job creation and the interfaces between education/training and social policies.
