Joint Cedefop and Eurofound seminar on the role of social partner in continuing vocational training

The role of social partners in continuing vocational training (CVT) in Europe: reviewing practices and sharing challenges

The European Centre for the Development of Vocational Training (Cedefop) and the European Foundation for the Improvement of Living and Working Conditions (Eurofound) are jointly organising a seminar, The role of social partners in Continuing Vocational Training (CVT) in Europe: reviewing practices and sharing challenges. The seminar will be held at Cedefop’s premises in Thessaloniki, Greece on 9 and 10 February 2009.

The seminar will disseminate the results of a joint study by Eurofound and Cedefop on the contribution of collective bargaining to the development of continuing vocational training (CVT) in Europe (EU 27 plus Norway). The report will be available at: http://www.eurofound.europa.eu/eiro/ and http://www.trainingvillage.gr/etv/default.asp

The working sessions will focus on providing a deeper understanding of and producing knowledge on the social partners current role and the challenges for continuing training provision in Europe. This topic is of paramount importance within the frame of the Copenhagen Process and the Lisbon Strategy.

The seminar also aims to discuss the current features of CVT policies in relation to industrial relations models; review practices and trends in the involvement of the social partners in national CVT systems and policies. The event will provide a forum for discussion among the social partners.
