Malta withstood the economic crisis relatively well. Its economy and employment grew strongly since 2011 and the country has also very low unemployment rate. Also future looks bright for country’s labour market: both employment and working age population shall increase substantially over the period to 2030.
Construction, ICT services and professional services will grow fastest in forthcoming years. Researchers & engineers, customer clerks and office associate professionals are expected to have most new job openings. The total job openings (including replacements for vacated jobs) till 2030 provide ample opportunities for people with medium and high qualification levels. Medium qualifications will be the most demanded ones, followed by high qualifications, while number of jobs for people with low qualifications is expected to decrease significantly.
