Jakub Dürr was born in 1976. In 2000, he graduated from Palacký University, Olomouc, Czech Republic, majoring in Political Science and European Studies. He also studied Political Science at Masaryk University, Brno, Czech Republic, Jagiellonian University, Kraków, Poland, Miami University, Ohio, USA, and Loughborough University, Great Britain.

Since 2000, he was a Ph.D. student in Politics at Palacký University, Olomouc, where since 2000 he became a lecturer/senior lecturer at the Department of Politics and European Studies. He also taught at Valdosta State University, Georgia, USA in 2001 and he lectured at Anglo-American College in Prague 2001 - 2003.

In 2006, Jakub Dürr was appointed a Vice-President of Palacký University in charge of international affairs and external relations. In 2008, he left academia for an appointed position of the Deputy Minister for European Affairs, Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports, Czech Republic.
