Worked for the German Institute for International Educational Research (DIPF) and the Institut Technik und Bildung at Bremen University. In 2004 he successfully finished his comparative doctoral thesis on vocational teachers in the US and Europe. He co-ordinated and led several European projects and was a visiting researcher within the U.S. National Center for Career and Technical Education at Ohio State University and at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education at the University of Toronto (OISE-UT). Beside Comparative Vocational Education Research Teachers and Trainers in VET is one of his major research interests. He is the German member of the Focus Group on Vocational Teachers and Trainers of DG Education and Culture. Recent publications on teachers and trainers include
