An Industrial Engineer and HR Professional, with over thirty years experience in the area of Human Resource Development, Nora has designed, developed, conducted and evaluated training programmes for managers, executives and supervisors in all sectors of industry and commerce throughout Ireland. A major part of her work with FÁS, Irish National Training & Employment Authority, was in skills appraisal, identifying training needs and establishing relevant training programmes for most business sectors. She has designed and presented many programmes for training trainers in the commercial sector. As an auditor / monitor on behalf of the European Union she monitored company training funded through the European Social Fund and the National Exchequer.
Nora set up her own service company, Calmar International Ltd. in 1990 and it has been running successfully for 18 years to the present day. Calmar International Ltd. is a Project Management, Training Consultancy and Information Services Company. She has developed the company to provide quality services in programme management and development, consultancy, training, research, publications and online services.
As a support to organisations she developed and published 7 editions of the “National Training & Continuing Education Directory”. This has now been incorporated into a new website for businesses, www.irishconsultants.ie
She is an expert on an ISO Technical Committee for the development of a new ISO Standard on ”Learning services for non-formal education and training – basic requirements for service providers”.
She is Executive Director of the Trainers Network, and the Training Providers Competency Skillnet. These networks provide a learning platform for Training Providers/Consultants to develop their competencies in assuring and managing the quality and innovation of training provision. She was recently awarded a Diploma in Network Management.
Calmar has managed and participated in many EU Initiatives and has been successful in being awarded several contracts from CEDEFOP since 1994 to the present day.
