Helms Niels Henrik
Associate Professor, Director
Niels Henrik Helms is employed at the University of Southern Denmark as an associate professor in media studies and director of Knowledge Lab - a research and development centre.
Niels Henrik Helms has a longstanding track record of research and development work in ICT and learning. His main focus is on the relationship between media, competence and innovation. He has worked for more than a decade with vocational training and education. And he has been one of the key figures in the development of APL in adult vocational training, further education and also in the area of non-formal learning. He has made numerous presentations on areas like: ICT and learning, innovation and ICT, portfolios and modern work life and pervasive e-learning. Right now he is working on a monograph about innovation, technology and learning.
Research interests:
• Relationship between technology, knowledge and learning
• Relations between formal, informal and non-formal learning
• Processes behind innovation – technology, organisation and competence
• e-learning – especially pervasive computing and e-learning
