The fruitful cooperation between Estonia and Georgia continues with the project ‘Support for the Development of Georgian Vocational Education and Training II’. The aim of the project is to support Georgian pilot schools and the Georgian Ministry of Education and Science in enhancing the quality of vocational education in line with the Georgian education strategy and the EU’s vocational education objectives. The project activities are enhancement of quality assurance systems in vocational schools, curriculum development in selected economic sectors and promotion of vocational education.

The project partners in Estonia are the National Examinations and Qualifications Centre and eight vocational schools. The cooperation partners in Georgia are the Georgian Ministry of Education and Science and the Georgian National Centre for Educational Quality Enhancement. The beneficiaries of the project are Georgian pilot schools (eight VET colleges/centres), which will also participate in the development activity.

Activities to mark the launch of the project took place in Georgia on 24-28 October 2011, with the launch seminar being held in Tbilisi. The project is due to run from October 2011 to October 2013 and is funded by the Development Cooperation and Humanitarian Aid of the Estonian Foreign Ministry.
