crowdlearning / crowdsourced learning

In education and training, participative engagement of a group of individuals (learners, teachers or trainers) who share work, information, or opinions for a common goal – usually to carry out a task or solve a problem – in an innovative and more efficient way.

  • Crowdlearning is powered by new technologies, social media and web 2.0.;
  • the term ‘crowdsourcing’ – a portmanteau of ‘crowd’ and ‘outsourcing’ – was coined in 2005 by Jeff Howe and Mark Robinson;
  • this term is close to, but not synonymous with: participative learning.
