The Cedefop peer learning event on Guiding at risk youth through learning to work will take place in Thessaloniki, Greece, on 26-27 November 2009.

The event will be debating the findings of the soon-to-be-released Cedefop study on well-established and experimental guidance measures and initiatives to support school completion and education-to-work transitions of young people at the risk of dropping out of mainstream education and training. The study covers the European Union and European Economic Area countries.

The event will specifically address preventative, corrective and working life familiarisation measures available in the Member States to support young peoples transition through learning to working life. Finally, the event aims at stimulating future action on developing innovative and individualised guidance services to support young people in making the transition from learning to work.

Cedefop has invited some 30-40 European and national guidance policy- and decision-makers, researchers and guidance practitioners to contribute to and participate in the event.
