A portfolio can be used for different purposes:

  • showcase/display: brief self-introduction, professional objectives, essential skills, qualifications and key achievements, when looking for a job or applying for education or training;
  • documentation: systematic collection of qualifications, certifications, experiences, achievements, projects, recommendations, including images, videos, personal blogs or webpages;
  • lifelong guidance;
  • monitoring: record of a learner’s progress and achievements;
  • skills audit / competence profiling;
  • assessment and validation of formal and non-formal learning outcomes.
