A policy learning forum on developing teachers and trainers’ competences for better learners’ skills in vocational education and training (VET) is organised by Cedefop on 21 and 22 November in Thessaloniki.
Cedefop will present evidence on policies and practice to support initial and continuing professional development of VET teachers and trainers in enterprises to address today’s challenges and ensure quality VET, especially in the context of work-based learning and apprenticeship.
More than 60 participants from European Union, candidate and neighbouring countries (Turkey, Serbia and Montenegro), the European Commission and the European Training Foundation will exchange and share experiences in an interactive environment and through networking opportunities.
National, regional and local authorities, social partners, teacher professional associations, practitioners and other stakeholders will be represented at the event.
Some participants are members of the ET2020 working group on VET, which will hold its third plenary meeting on the Cedefop premises on 23 November.
Cedefop has recently published:
- thematic country perspectives (June 2016) that provide excellent snapshots of the situation of teaching and training professionals who work in initial VET;
- and a briefing note, ‘Professional development for VET teachers and trainers: a guarantee of quality in VET’ (June 2016).
The forum is part of the first European vocational skills week, organised by the European Commission with Cedefop as a partner.
