Dual vocational education and training (VET) plays a major role in Austria. To maintain the attractiveness of this education pathway both for companies and for young people, training contents need to keep pace with the requirements of the economy. This demands that the training ordinances and curricula of part-time vocational schools are revised regularly. The 2017 apprenticeship occupation package (Lehrberufspaket), comprises eight modernised apprenticeships, focusing also on setting up a new framework for digitisation.

The Luxembourg Tech School (LTS) is a new extracurricular school concept to support the development of future digital leaders. It is aimed at students aged 15 to 20 years who are passionate about the digital realm and eager to learn and apply technology in a real business context. The pilot phase started in September 2016 with about 30 students from general secondary education. LTS is supported by Ministry of National Education, Children and Youth and Digital Luxembourg.
In response to being asked by the government to develop a national strategy for digital skills in education, the Swedish National Agency of Education has decided that all upper secondary learners should be able to learn general and applied programming.
According to a report published in 2017 by Statistics Sweden (SCB), every tenth person who has completed initial vocational education and training (VET) and is aged between 18 and 34 years had been abroad for at least two weeks within the framework of his/her upper secondary education. This proportion is much higher than the benchmark of 6% set by the European Union. The report also gives statistics on international mobility for learning purposes and the scope of mobility among Swedish learners.

In place since mid-May 2017, the new government intends to proceed with large-scale reform of the vocational training system. CollegesWales, the Wales’ national contact point for the European qualifications framework, completed in 2016 their research on the European master craftsperson qualifications. Part of this research was to evaluate, whether there is a desire for creating a master craftsperson qualification route in Wales. The research considers the viability and potential uptake of such programmes in Wales and the introduction of master craftsperson frameworks at EQF levels 4 and 5.
Cedefop's Skills Panorama team received a best practice certificate within the European public sector award (EPSA) at a ceremony in Maastricht’s Town Hall on 20 November.
