Global education digest 2006 - UNESCO statistics

The Global Education Digest 2006 presents the latest education statistics from students from the perspectives of both the sending and receiving (host) countries. It primary to tertiary levels in more than 200 countries. It also tracks the flows of foreign or mobile students. Mobile students are defined as those who study in foreign countries where they are not permanent residents.

The 2006 edition features new indicators that track the flow of internationally mobile therefore provides a unique perspective on the internationalisation of tertiary education. This years Digest also presents regional averages for a greater number of education indicators and, for the first time, adult and youth literacy rates.
